Privacy Policy

Effective: July 19, 2026 Last updated: August 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Kaironos (the "app"), published by Kaironos LLC ("Kaironos," "we," "us"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use the app. Kaironos is an astrology and entertainment app. Please also read our Terms of Service.

1. Accounts & who this applies to

Kaironos may show a limited first-reading preview before sign-in. To save that reading, continue using the app, or purchase a plan, you create an account with Google, Apple, or an email address and password through Google Firebase Authentication. If you never create an account, we do not build an account profile for you.

This policy applies to the Kaironos mobile app and this website.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account details — your email address, display name, sign-in method (Google, Apple, or email), and a profile-image URL if your sign-in provider supplies one. Firebase assigns your account a unique identifier.
  • Birth and location details — the birth date, birth time (if known), and birth place you enter. If you grant while-using-the-app location permission, the app may use your current device location to help fill a location or cast a reading for the current place. We do not use automatic IP geolocation or track background location.
  • Your questions and readings — the questions you ask, readings returned, and ratings, written feedback, preferred answers, or outcomes you choose to provide.

Information collected automatically

  • Basic usage & device data — limited technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as device platform, app version, feature interactions, request endpoint paths, and anonymous IP-based usage records used for abuse prevention.
  • Crash diagnostics — privacy-filtered crash and performance reports through Sentry. We strip user identity, request headers, query strings, bodies, arbitrary extras, console breadcrumbs, birth details, precise location, and question text.
  • Notification data — if you enable notifications, a device push token, device platform, preferences, and timezone so we can deliver reminders you requested.

We do not access your contacts or photo library, collect health data or precise background location, or use advertising identifiers.

3. How we use information

  • To create and secure your account and sign you in.
  • To calculate charts and generate the readings you ask for.
  • To keep your history of questions and readings so you can return to them.
  • To operate, maintain, debug, and improve the app (including diagnosing crashes).
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To send notifications you have enabled.
  • To comply with law and enforce our Terms.

Improving the reading engine

The optional "Help improve Kaironos" setting is off and currently unavailable. We do not copy private production questions or responses into source-control or evaluation datasets. We will not begin optional improvement processing unless a reviewed de-identification process is available and you separately opt in. If your account already records consent from an earlier version, you can still withdraw it at any time.

4. AI processing of your questions

Kaironos generates the written portion of a reading using a third-party large-language-model service (currently Google's Gemini models via Google Cloud). To produce a reading, the text of your question and the relevant chart context are sent to that service, which returns the generated text to us. We instruct the provider to process this data to serve your request. We do not use your questions to train third-party public models. Content is also screened by automated safety checks before and after generation.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf to run the app, and where required by law:

6. Purchases & subscriptions

Paid plans are sold as in-app purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed with RevenueCat. Payment is handled by the app store — we do not receive or store your credit-card number. We receive your subscription status (for example, which plan you have and whether it is active) so we can unlock features. Billing, renewal, and cancellation are described in our Terms.

7. Analytics, crash reports & advertising

Advertising: Kaironos contains no ads. We do not use ad networks, ad identifiers, or third-party advertising trackers.

Operational analytics: Expo provides limited app-start and performance telemetry associated with our Expo project. It does not include question text, readings, birth details, email addresses, or precise location.

Crash reporting: we use Sentry to receive privacy-filtered crash and error diagnostics so we can fix problems. See Sentry's privacy notice.

8. Device permissions

The app asks for these permissions only when you use a feature that needs them, and you can decline or revoke them in your device settings:

  • Location (while using the app): used only to auto-fill your birth city or current city when you set up a chart. Your location is not tracked in the background and is not used for advertising.
  • Microphone & speech recognition: used only when you tap the microphone to ask a question by voice. Your speech is converted to text using your device's or platform's speech-recognition service (for example, Apple's or Google's); depending on your device, audio may be processed by that platform service to produce the transcript. The resulting text becomes your question.
  • Notifications: used to deliver reminders and insights you have enabled.

We do not request camera, photo library, contacts, or health permissions.

9. Notifications

If you enable notifications, we send reminders, daily insights, and similar messages. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app's settings or your device settings.

10. Data retention

We keep account data, birth details, question history, reports, and settings while your account is active so requested features and history work. Anonymous IP-based usage and request-idempotency records expire after 35 days; expired authentication sessions after 30 days; and notification-delivery logs after 90 days. Expired astrology caches are purged during backend startup.

When you delete your account (see Delete your data), Kaironos revokes linked Apple authorization on iOS before deletion starts, then deletes the RevenueCat customer, active account data, the Firebase identity, notifications, and reproducible astrology caches. If active Kaironos data is already erased but a connected-service stage cannot be confirmed, a durable backend job retries that remaining stage automatically. Encrypted database backups age out under our backup schedule (normally within 14 days) and are used only for disaster recovery. Apple and Google retain their own purchase/refund records under their policies, which we do not control. Records may also be retained where law requires.

11. Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Your rights & choices

  • Access & export — you can request a copy of your data.
  • Correction — you can update your profile and birth details in the app.
  • Deletion — you can delete your account and associated data in the app, or via the instructions on our Delete your data page.
  • Consent — new improvement opt-ins are unavailable; any existing optional consent can still be withdrawn in Settings.
  • Notifications & permissions — you control these in the app and your device settings.

13. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access to and deletion of it, and to correct it, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. 14. EU / UK rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our legal bases are performance of our contract (account, readings, history, and purchases), consent (optional permissions and notifications), legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in securing and reliably operating the service. You may withdraw consent at any time and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
